Best Green Companies is a joint venture between ourselves, The Sunday Times and environmental consultants Bureau Veritas. Created in 2008 the Green List is published annually in The Sunday Times.
The competition sets out to identify and celebrate the achievements of companies at the leading edge of environmental performance.
Our methodology is unique, we use two surveys to assess environmental performance – an employer survey completed once by each entrant organisation and crucially an employee survey to measure staff attitudes towards the environment and ascertain if organisational policy is enacted on the shop floor.
To date we have published three Green Lists that include some of the biggest names in British business, spanning a huge range of sectors. Current and previous entrants include: BT, Asda, Skanska, Logica, PWC, BBC Worldwide, Penguin, B&Q, AXA PPP healthcare, HSBC, Eurostar, Tesco, Coca-Cola (UK), Canon (UK) and Marriot Hotels.
We are in a unique position of having spoken to over 100,000 employees within over 180 UK organisations and is able to provide benchmarking data not only on environmental attitudes but also employee satisfaction and commitment levels.
